Direct Energy HD Class D Switching Amplifier
Continuously evolving throughout the years, Pioneer's Direct Energy HD Amp has now reached the 6th generation. New power coils are adopted for the ideal speaker drive, as well as new custom film capacitors co-developed with Shinyei Capacitor for the ultimate sound. The power supply and patterning has been developed through repeated tuning. Furthermore, The Full Band Phase Control technology focuses on the group delay in the speaker network filter, and adjusts the phase of each unit as well as the group delay for each speaker. Multi-range speakers gain the sound coherence of full-range speakers, while retaining the wide frequency range advantage. In an environment where the phase of all units and all channels are precisely controlled, a remarkably clear sound location with a surrounding feel is achieved. In combination with MCACC Pro, the ideal multi-channel reproduction environment can be created, which faithfully replicates object audio and the intention of the original content developer.
PQFA Jitterless Sound Processing for Network/USB
With PQFA (Precision Quartz File-based Audio), clocks are available for each stage of input, digital signal processing, and D/A conversion, and the shorter path prevents jitter from occurring. Additionally, a high-precision clock IC (OSC) is used to realise D/A conversion with significantly less jitter.
PQLS Jitterless Sound Transmission
With the precision quartz controller on the AV receiver, Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) eliminates distortion caused by timing errors. It controls the amount of audio signals from the AV receiver to the Pioneer universal disc player connected via HDMI, giving the best possible digital-to-analog conversion.
Audio Exclusive Mode
Interference from video signals is eliminated by turning off the video signal path via HDMI. You can enjoy detailed sound, full of spatial feel.

High Sound Quality Circuit Design Based on the ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) Concept
ToP-ART Design and ART Base ensure optimum sound when processing and transmitting the audio signal. The signal is simple and direct, therefore it is less likely to be affected by noise and distortion. The left and right channels are organized in a straight, symmetrical layout for the highest signal purity.
High Strength Chassis Contributes to High Density Sound and Pure Audio Reproduction
In order to effectively dampen the vibrations that have adverse effects on sound quality, the A-S801 chassis has a double bottom design with a 1 mm iron plate. In addition, the power transformer and heat sinks in the power amp section are supported by an extremely strong and stable ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) base. A solid center bar further enhances high rigidity and dampens vibrations. These Yamaha design innovations contribute to superior signal to noise ratio with rich, natural sound reproduction.
High Quality Parts for Outstanding Audio Performance
Notice the custom-made power transformer, custom-made block capacitors, two direct signal path speaker relays, one point grounding system, extruded aluminum heat sinks and other top-quality parts to effortlessly handle demanding audio conditions. The quality of each individual part, as well as how they work together, basically determines the sound quality of this component. Yamaha uses only very high quality parts, carefully selected and tested for their sound properties.
USB DAC Function Supports Native DSD (2.8 MHz / 5.6 MHz) and PCM (384 kHz / 32-bit) Resolutions
The USB DAC function supports native DSD (2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz) and PCM (384 kHz / 32-bit ) resolutions. This function allows for a direct connection to PCs which opens the door to play back of the highest resolution audio content offered today. The Yamaha-developed USB device controller has its own master clock that eliminates PC jitter. The driver is a low loss, high throughput ASIO 2.3 Yamaha Steinberg USB driver. During playback, indicators on the front panel clearly show which sampling frequencies are currently being used.
Exceptionally High Performance 32-bit D/A Converter
After careful listening evaluations, Yamaha selected the 32-bit, 2-channel SABRE Premier Audio DAC from ESS Technology, Inc. Most notable is its high precision processing power of 32-bit audio along with the ability to handle large amounts of audio data with full PCM 384 kHz and native DSD 5.6 MHz. Since the built-in D/A converter generates its own master clock, an original jitter elimination function is also included, permitting D/A conversion with an extremely low impact of clock jitter. Moreover, a 2-channel D/A converter is housed inside the chip which applies a double differential operation. The result is exceptional high performance and high quality signal output with a superior signal to noise ratio.
Digital Audio Input for TV and/or Blu-ray Disc Player
The A-S801 is equipped for digital audio inputs with an optical and digital coaxial input terminal. The optical is for receiving audio from a TV and the coaxial for receiving audio from a Blu-ray Disc player. The audio stays in the digital domain giving you pure, pristine and dynamic sound for all your entertainment sources.
CD Direct Amplification and Pure Direct Mode for Greater Sound Purity
With a straight connection to the CD input, CD Direct Amplification maximizes the CD sources signal-to-noise ratio. The R-N602 is a stereo receiver and network audio player in a single unit. You can use it to easily play audio downloaded from the Internet, stored on a PC or NAS system or enjoy streaming music services and Internet radio (with vTuner). Moreover, the MusicCast app from Yamaha allows you to enjoy your favorite tunes on a smartphone or tablet device via a wireless connection.
Extensive Audio Codec and Format Support
This network stereo receiver is compatible with high-resolution audio codecs such as DSD / AIFF / FLAC / WAV / Apple Lossless. You will enjoy the excellent sound quality of these various high-resolution audio codecs from the USB input on the front panel or from network connected devices. It uses a Burr-Brown 192 kHz / 24-bit DAC that has a firmly established reputation for quality.
USB Digital Connection for iPod and iPhone on the Front Panel
A USB port on the front panel allows convenient connection of an iPod and iPhone, which also charges the iOS device when connected. Because the digital signal from the iPod and iPhone is transmitted directly to the receiver, there is no signal-loss or interference. You get to enjoy the best possible sound quality. In addition, you can use the receiver's remote control unit to operate the iPod and iPhone for basic playback control.
Gapless Playback Compatibility Allows Play without Interruption
Many live and classical albums have no gaps in the music. Gapless playback ensures that there are no pauses between audio files. This provides playback with no interruptions, the way it was meant to be heard.

Everything in the R-N602 has been built for maximum performance. The internal design utilizes simple, direct transmission of the signals - ensuring optimum separation and elimination of noise and distortion for pure sound reproduction. This includes dual independent power supplies for the two sound sources (analog and digital) as well as original ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) and Art Base chassis construction to fully protect audio signals from noise and vibration. Pure Direct Mode for Greater Sound Purity
Engaging the Pure Direct switch causes the audio signal to bypass the control circuits for bass, treble, balance and the back buffer amp. This improves sound quality while maintaining full output capacity. Shortening the signal route improves sound purity, helping to reproduce even the most delicate musical nuances.
Digital Audio Inputs for TV or Blu-ray Disc Players
The R-N602 is equipped for digital audio inputs with both optical and coaxial terminals. The optical is for receiving audio from a TV and the coaxial for receiving audio from a Blu-ray Disc player. The audio stays in the digital domain, giving you pure, pristine dynamic sound for all your entertainment sources.

ECO Mode and Auto Power Standby
The R-N602 has an ECO mode that reduces power consumption by about 20% and an Auto Power Standby function that you can set to turn the power off after two, four, eight or 12 hours.
