In order to effectively dampen the vibrations that have adverse effects on sound quality, the A-S801 chassis has a double bottom design with a 1 mm iron plate. In addition, the power transformer and heat sinks in the power amp section are supported by an extremely strong and stable ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) base. A solid center bar further enhances high rigidity and dampens vibrations. These Yamaha design innovations contribute to superior signal to noise ratio with rich, natural sound reproduction.

Digital Audio Input for TV and/or Blu-ray Disc™ Player
The A-S801 is equipped for digital audio inputs with an optical and digital coaxial input terminal. The optical is for receiving audio from a TV and the coaxial for receiving audio from a Blu-ray Disc player. The audio stays in the digital domain giving you pure, pristine and dynamic sound for all your entertainment sources.
CD Direct Amplification and Pure Direct Mode for Greater Sound Purity
With a straight connection to the CD input, CD Direct Amplification maximizes the CD sources signal-to-noise ratio. Additionally, engaging the Pure Direct mode causes the music signals to travel the shortest possible circuit route, bypassing the buffer amp, the tone, loudness and balance controls to virtually eliminate any signal degradation for the purest sound quality.
Continuous Variable Loudness Control
The A-S801 also features a new analog loudness control on the front panel that uses electronic volume for higher sound quality which lets you adjust the loudness effect as desired. Separate from the overall volume, this controls the balance of the low and high frequencies providing full tonal range at any volume level by compensating for the natural loss in the human ear at soft levels.

Three-Block Internal Layout
The blocks for power supply, drive/digital processing and analog audio are separated into three to eliminate electrical and magnetic interference between the blocks.
Ultra-Rigid Construction without Radiation Holes
Even the holes for heat radiation are excluded to realize a flat form with optimal electric circuit design and minimum mechanical noise from the rotating system. The result is significantly low noise and even more rigid and stable chassis structure.
Double-Layered Chassis with Rigid Under Base for Rigidity and Low Center of Gravity
The 1.6 mm-thick chassis base is reinforced with a 3 mm-thick steel plate Rigid Under Base. This Double-Layered Chassis structure provides a low center-of-gravity and overall rigidity that prevents the transfer of external vibration to the inner chassis and offers a superior reading of the disc.
6-Layered Main Circuit Board for High S/N Ratio
A 6-layered IVH is used for the main circuit board to thoroughly eliminate digital noise. SDR/HDR Preset Mode for Optimal Performance for the Display
In addition to the video parameter "Reference" for reproducing the original master quality, you can select "LCD TV," "OLED TV," or "Projector" for the video quality best suited to your display. Additionally, there are SDR/HDR presets for each video parameter, that automatically switches between SDR preset and HDR preset according to the output signal.
Disc Information On-Screen Display
You can display the disc information on your screen by pressing and holding the remote control's DISPLAY button. In addition to the playing disc's details, you can easily check mastering information such as MaxFALL (Maximum Frame Average Light Level) and MaxCLL (Maximum Content Light Level) available on some HDR content, as well as HDMI output information .
PQLS Jitter-less Sound Transmission
With the precision quartz controller on a compatible AV receiver, Pioneer's PQLS (Precision Quartz Lock System) eliminates distortion caused by timing errors. Zero Signal Terminal
The Zero Signal Terminal is a Pioneer-original feature dedicated to tuning audio and video quality without signal transmission. By connecting the Zero Signal Terminal with the audio/video input terminal of an AV receiver etc., the reference level (GND) of the audio/video signals is aligned between the two devices and the potential difference is suppressed, allowing a precise and high-quality signal transmission.

Direct Energy HD Class D Switching Amplifier
Continuously evolving throughout the years, Pioneer's Direct Energy HD Amp has now reached the 6th generation. New power coils are adopted for the ideal speaker drive, as well as new custom film capacitors co-developed with Shinyei Capacitor for the ultimate sound. The power supply and patterning has been developed through repeated tuning. Also, the entire transmission path from the pre stage to the power stage has been changed to balanced circuitry, to transmit noise-free high-quality signals to the power stage.
MCACC Pro Auto Room Tuning
MCACC Pro, the pinnacle of Pioneer's auto room tuning technology, analyzes the phase and group delay characteristics to precisely control phase differences between speakers. MCACC Pro corrects phase differences in all ranges and all channels, from phase difference in the original audio material to the sound emitted from the speakers. Required microphone included.

ESS 384 kHz/32-bit DAC
Two 384 kHz/32-bit ESS DACs (ES9026PRO), same as the ones used for Pioneers PD-70AE SACD player, are used for all channels. With extremely precise D/A conversion and high S/N ratio, the DAC provides powerful sound full of rich details.

Full Band Phase Control
Pioneer's Phase Control technology effectively eliminates phase lag and significantly improves the multi-channel sound without any extra operation. Furthermore, The Full Band Phase Control technology focuses on the group delay in the speaker network filter, and adjusts the phase of each unit as well as the group delay for each speaker. Multi-range speakers gain the sound coherence of full-range speakers, while retaining the wide frequency range advantage. In an environment where the phase of all units and all channels are precisely controlled, a remarkably clear sound location with a surrounding feel is achieved. In combination with MCACC Pro, the ideal multi-channel reproduction environment can be created, which faithfully replicates object audio and the intention of the original content developer.
PQFA Jitterless Sound Processing for Network/USB
With PQFA (Precision Quartz File-based Audio), clocks are available for each stage of input, digital signal processing, and D/A conversion, and the shorter path prevents jitter from occurring. Additionally, a high-precision clock IC (OSC) is used to realise D/A conversion with significantly less jitter.
PQLS Jitterless Sound Transmission
With the precision quartz controller on the AV receiver, Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) eliminates distortion caused by timing errors. It controls the amount of audio signals from the AV receiver to the Pioneer universal disc player connected via HDMI, giving the best possible digital-to-analog conversion.
Audio Exclusive Mode
Interference from video signals is eliminated by turning off the video signal path via HDMI. You can enjoy detailed sound, full of spatial feel.
AV Direct Mode
The feature turns off the network functions to suppress digital noise within the AV receiver, and improves sound quality for analog playback, digital input, HDMI playback etc. Mode 1 turns off the network module operation clock, while Mode 2 shuts down the network power completely for more superior sound.

Works with Alexa makes you control SC-LX704 with your voice via Alexa-enabled device such as the Amazon Echo, to play, pause, and skip titles or control the volume. You can enjoy the music via streaming service such like Amazon Music by selecting song title, artist name, release year, and genre.
Ready for 4K HDR entertainment
