This network stereo receiver is compatible with high-resolution audio codecs such as DSD / AIFF / FLAC / WAV / Apple Lossless. You will enjoy the excellent sound quality of these various high-resolution audio codecs from the USB input on the front panel or from network connected devices. It uses a Burr-Brown 192 kHz / 24-bit DAC that has a firmly established reputation for quality.
USB Digital Connection for iPod and iPhone on the Front Panel
A USB port on the front panel allows convenient connection of an iPod and iPhone, which also charges the iOS device when connected. Because the digital signal from the iPod and iPhone is transmitted directly to the receiver, there is no signal-loss or interference. You get to enjoy the best possible sound quality. In addition, you can use the receiver's remote control unit to operate the iPod and iPhone for basic playback control.
Gapless Playback Compatibility Allows Play without Interruption

ToP-ART Sound Quality Design and Highest Quality Parts
Everything in the R-N602 has been built for maximum performance. The internal design utilizes simple, direct transmission of the signals - ensuring optimum separation and elimination of noise and distortion for pure sound reproduction. This includes dual independent power supplies for the two sound sources (analog and digital) as well as original ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) and Art Base chassis construction to fully protect audio signals from noise and vibration. Moreover, all parts and materials have been carefully selected and tested to make sure they are of only the highest quality so that they all work together to provide the absolute best sound possible.
Pure Direct Mode for Greater Sound Purity
Engaging the Pure Direct switch causes the audio signal to bypass the control circuits for bass, treble, balance and the back buffer amp. This improves sound quality while maintaining full output capacity. Shortening the signal route improves sound purity, helping to reproduce even the most delicate musical nuances.
Digital Audio Inputs for TV or Blu-ray Disc Players
The R-N602 is equipped for digital audio inputs with both optical and coaxial terminals. The optical is for receiving audio from a TV and the coaxial for receiving audio from a Blu-ray Disc player. The audio stays in the digital domain, giving you pure, pristine dynamic sound for all your entertainment sources.

Direct Energy HD Class D Switching Amplifier
Continuously evolving throughout the years, Pioneer's Direct Energy HD Amp has now reached the 6th generation. New power coils are adopted for the ideal speaker drive, as well as new custom film capacitors co-developed with Shinyei Capacitor for the ultimate sound. The power supply and patterning has been developed through repeated tuning. Also, the entire transmission path from the pre stage to the power stage has been changed to balanced circuitry, to transmit noise-free high-quality signals to the power stage.
MCACC Pro Auto Room Tuning
MCACC Pro, the pinnacle of Pioneer's auto room tuning technology, analyzes the phase and group delay characteristics to precisely control phase differences between speakers. Pioneer's Phase Control technology effectively eliminates phase lag and significantly improves the multi-channel sound without any extra operation. Furthermore, The Full Band Phase Control technology focuses on the group delay in the speaker network filter, and adjusts the phase of each unit as well as the group delay for each speaker. Multi-range speakers gain the sound coherence of full-range speakers, while retaining the wide frequency range advantage. In an environment where the phase of all units and all channels are precisely controlled, a remarkably clear sound location with a surrounding feel is achieved. In combination with MCACC Pro, the ideal multi-channel reproduction environment can be created, which faithfully replicates object audio and the intention of the original content developer.
PQFA Jitterless Sound Processing for Network/USB
With PQFA (Precision Quartz File-based Audio), clocks are available for each stage of input, digital signal processing, and D/A conversion, and the shorter path prevents jitter from occurring. Additionally, a high-precision clock IC (OSC) is used to realise D/A conversion with significantly less jitter.
PQLS Jitterless Sound Transmission
With the precision quartz controller on the AV receiver, Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) eliminates distortion caused by timing errors. It controls the amount of audio signals from the AV receiver to the Pioneer universal disc player connected via HDMI, giving the best possible digital-to-analog conversion.
Audio Exclusive Mode
Interference from video signals is eliminated by turning off the video signal path via HDMI. You can enjoy detailed sound, full of spatial feel.
AV Direct Mode
The feature turns off the network functions to suppress digital noise within the AV receiver, and improves sound quality for analog playback, digital input, HDMI playback etc. Mode 1 turns off the network module operation clock, while Mode 2 shuts down the network power completely for more superior sound.

Mechanical Ground Concept
The A-S1200 adopts a Mechanical Ground Concept, inherited from both the A-S2200 and A-S3200. The concept begins with the bolts of the feet welded directly to the main chassis, followed with the large heat sink, power transformer and block capacitors also directly bolted to the chassis. Through this design, unwanted vibration is avoided, achieving expressive and rhythmic bass, presenting the 'Groove' of the music to the listener.

In order to effectively dampen the vibrations that have adverse effects on sound quality, the A-S801 chassis has a double bottom design with a 1 mm iron plate. In addition, the power transformer and heat sinks in the power amp section are supported by an extremely strong and stable ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) base. A solid center bar further enhances high rigidity and dampens vibrations. These Yamaha design innovations contribute to superior signal to noise ratio with rich, natural sound reproduction.

Notice a custom made power transformer, custom made block capacitors, two direct signal path speaker relays, one point grounding system, extruded aluminum heat sinks and other top quality parts to effortlessly handle demanding audio conditions. Digital Audio Input for TV and/or Blu-ray Disc™ Player
The A-S801 is equipped for digital audio inputs with an optical and digital coaxial input terminal. The optical is for receiving audio from a TV and the coaxial for receiving audio from a Blu-ray Disc player. CD Direct Amplification and Pure Direct Mode for Greater Sound Purity
With a straight connection to the CD input, CD Direct Amplification maximizes the CD sources signal-to-noise ratio. Additionally, engaging the Pure Direct mode causes the music signals to travel the shortest possible circuit route, bypassing the buffer amp, the tone, loudness and balance controls to virtually eliminate any signal degradation for the purest sound quality.
Continuous Variable Loudness Control
The A-S801 also features a new analog loudness control on the front panel that uses electronic volume for higher sound quality which lets you adjust the loudness effect as desired. Separate from the overall volume, this controls the balance of the low and high frequencies providing full tonal range at any volume level by compensating for the natural loss in the human ear at soft levels.
